A large & rare 19th century toleware shops tea canister for Canton Pekoe Tea.
A rather special & highly unusual example, decorated with the absolute finest detailed gilt labelling below the number thirteen to the front panel. Very rare to come across one of these labelled for a specific tea as most were merely numbererd or in some cases lettered to allow them to be used for different types of tea.
I'd imagine it came from a very high end tea shop, I've had a lot of these but this has to be my favorite.

Wear commesurate with age as pictured, untouched condition, verfy good overall & displays beautifully. Mercifully no touch ups to the paint work, a little knocked about around the lid as they always are, certainly nothing major.
