A phenomenal antique ironmonger's counter.
A beautiful & rare English counter, the six drawers with their original iron handles above an open area to the base & the exterior with some beautiful gothic-style panelling. With a single plank mahogany top, the entire piece boasts the most wonderful depth of colour & patina, testament to decades of heavy use. Likely started out life as a shop counter & later used as a work station in the North of England.
A special piece of furniture.

Wear commensurate with age, solid & displays beautifully. With numerous areas of wear & tear and historic repairs & additions, the top has a large early insert front left (this apears to be where they have worn through the area & were well on their way to doing the same with the insert!), the right hand end panelling is later but comes in solid pine & works well (likely built into a shop originally with this end facing the wall). All wear & tear is very much part of it's past & also the reason I bought it.
Collection from our warehouse in Downham Market (PE38) preferred, UK courier service possible, please enquire for details.
