A wonderful antique taxidermy horse hoof table lamp by Rowland Ward.
An exceptional & rare taxidermy table lamp by arguably the finest taxidermy outfit of all time, Rowland Ward.
The lamp would have been made as a memento mori or keepsake for the beloved lost horse 'Confidence' by a wealthy Victorian family & the hoof itself is beautifully engraved 'Confidence, 10th May 1885'. The hoof is finished with custom made silver plated brass hardware with a phenomenal amount of detail with both the upper part & horse shoe marked for Rowland Ward, Naturalists, 166 Piccadilly.
A beautiful & poignant piece of the absolute highest quality.

Wear commensurate with age, good original condition, wear to the plated finish in places.
