A wonderful ebonised leather chair.
A beautiful & well loved cock fighting style chair of excellent form with an ebonized hardwood frame, the seat & back-rest in the original studded leather upholstery. The tapered legs come with reeded detailing typical of the period, the leather has gained a beautiful colour over the years & the back-rest support boasts some wonderful carved detail.
A superb & exceptionally original chair.
Mid 19th century
Wear commensurate with age, totally unrestored condition as pictured showing numerous pleasing signs of age. The leather upholstery is original & showing its age in places, the upper section is largely in good order, the side & front of the seat have age related cracks / tears as highlighted in the last image. The chair could be re-upholstered if it is to be used regularly however personally I think this would compromise its integrity & it is far better left just as it is!
