A wonderful & very rare set of Victorian butchers scales.
A stunning & seldom found piece in beautiful cast & wrought iron with a faux marble plate, surmounted with a heavy cast iron figure of a bull. With a superb, untouched age related patina, the bull & wrought iron framework show light traces of the original gilt painted finish & the base retains its original stamped lead insert.
A very rare & beautiful piece.
English, late 19th century.
Wear commensurate with age, untouched original condition, plenty of wear & tear, no damage. The scales have not been tested for accuracy but appear to be in working order.
