A beautiful early 19th century mahogany apothecary cabinet.
A wonderful rare surivivor the ten drawers with brass ring handles in a solid mahogany carcass with twin panelled doors. The whole piece boasts a patina & depth of colour found exclusively in furniture with considerable age & the drawer fronts have some delightfully naive alphabetical labeling which oddly only runs only to the letter 'U'. The inner drawers & carcass are beautifully made in thin solid oak & some of the drawers retain their original paper linings. A beautiful, curious piece with bags of character which is still very usable.
Early 19th century
Wear commensurate with age, good overall, unrestored & displays beautifully. The cabinet does show it's age in places, there is a chip to the rear of top panel, a secure age related crack to the left hand side & various other minor knocks, bumps & lumps which serve only to add to it's character. Of the ten drawer handles, four are non-peroid replacements, one drawer has a replacement base & the lock has no key (one door has a brass latch to the bottom which keeps this closed, the other does not so would benefit from having a key cut / replacement lock).
