A fantastic & very unusual example of a vintage watcmakers magnifying glass in the manner of Hadrill & Horstmann. A beautiful articulated watchmakers magnifying glass featuring a cast iron counterbalance mechanism, black 'crinkle' paintwork and powerful magnifying lens.
The piece is made in the style of the iconic Horstman 'Pluslite' & although unmarked, it is almost certainly manufactured by them. When compared with the lamp, all parts including the base,counterweight arms & lens have been scaled down & we think it was either a prototype which never went into production or one which was made in very small numbers.
Beautifully over engineered & so decorative!
