Glass Dunhill Shop Sign

A fantastic & scarce surviving example of an antique glass advertising sign for Dunhill. A superb early advertising sign consisting of two glass panels, the front panel is reverse painted in some wonderful colours & the rear panel is in milk / opaline glass which can be seen through the lettering. The sign comes in its original mahogany frame, is of truly exceptional quality & has a wonderful bygone look about it.
Dunhill Ltd was developed by Alfred Dunhill in 1893 after he inherited his father saddlery business. They began supplying motoring accessories & within a few years moved towards the luxury market opening stores in Mayfair, London. Throughout the 20th century, Dunhill have supplied luxury goods including clothing, leather accessories, lighters, fragrances & cigarettes.

Wear commensurate with age, unrestored, great condition overall. No cracks or damage, expected (very) minor signs of age to the reverse painting in places. One of the two brass wall brackets could do with replacing.
