Nervograph Enamel Sign

Dimensions:

W: 39cm (15.4")H: 32cm (12.6")D: 8cm (3.1")

An extremely rare 'Nervograph' enamel sign in its original frame. A scarce surviving example which would have topped an art deco arcade machine offering instructions to its users. The vitreous enamel sign comes mounted in its original cast bronze frame with the Nervograph branding along the lower edge. A wonderful display piece from a bygone era!
The Nervograph arcade machine was manufactured by Brenner & Son in 1933 & was no more than a cleverly diguised fortune teller machine. Posing as a 'health machine', it could provide the user with a daily health chart based on the state of his or her 'nerves' when tracing over a line with a pen. Such was the expected demand, the father & son team created a whole new company, Nervograph Ltd of Grays Road End, London from which to market it. The machine was launched in a blaze of publicity & despite an initial steady number of orders, it was ultimately a failiure with the public simply failing to take to it.
c1933
Wear commensurate with age as pictured, unrestored with an excellent gloss to the enamel. The sign has a small chip to the enamel along the lower edge, is slightly loose in the frame & does not free stand without assistance.
UK courier service available at £15 tracked & signed for 24 hour delivery.
