Waverley Pen Enamel Sign

Dimensions:

A truly exceptional example of an antique enamel advertising sign for The Waverley Pen by The Falkirk Iron Company. A wonderful sign in amazing condition, in thick black & white enamel, featuring some great early typography.
The "Waverley" fountain pen was invented by Mr Duncan Cameron of Macnivern & Cameron in around 1855 and was unusual in having an upturned point, making the ink flow more smoothly on the paper. The "Waverley" was named after the Waverly novels of Sir Walter Scott (1771–1832), which were still hugely popular at the time.
Macniven and Cameron also made pens called the "Pickwick", "Owl", "Phaeton", "Nile", "Hindoo" & "Commercial" & their factory in Birmingahm ran from around 1900 to the mid 1960's.
A beautifully simple & seldom seen sign which makes a fantstic display piece.
Early 20th century, likely pre 1920.
Two available.
Simply stunning condition for a sign of this age, as near to 'mint' as you'll find!
UK courier service available at £14 tracked & signed for 24 hour delivery.
