A beautiful original 18th century oak bible box. A lovely early example with all original oak panels, carved with decorative floral detailing, initialed 'M.S' & dated 1746. With a stunning patina & finished with its original iron clasp, the box is awash with pleasing signs of age & displays beautifully.

Wear commensurate with age, good solid condition for a piece of this age. With a slight bow to the hinged lid & fixed top panel, the hinges are not original but very early replacements & a good fit. An 'honest' 18th century box & totally unrestored.
