An antique taxidermy stag mount by the iconic Rowland Ward. A beautiful & early piece by arguably the best taxidermist of all time. Typically lifelike, bursting with character & mounted on an ebonised solid oak shield which is carved R.W to the rear & retains it's original manufacturers label. Personally, I don't think any taxidermist has ever come close to the genius that is Rowland Ward.
Late 19th century
Wear commensurate with age. The top rear of the head & upper neck part are showing their age with some hair loss & associated exposed stitching and there is some minor cracking on the upper lip. Displays beautifully just as it is & the hair loss cannot be seen once the piece is wall mounted.
