A scarce surviving example of an antique leather medical brace. A wonderfully well made if slightly macabre piece of medical history in thick perforated leather with rigid chrome bracing, a hooked lace-up front & contrasting leather lining. Would have been used long term to correct an ailment in the lower leg & ankle area. Displays beautifully.
Early 20th century.
Wear commensurate with age & use, good untouched overall condition with associated light marks & scuffs. The lace is later in date & one of the lower parts has some loss to the surface of the leather & some non oriinal stitching.
