Leather Medical Corset

A scarce surviving example of an antique leather medical corset. A wonderfully well made if slightly macabre piece of medical history in thick perforated leather with rigid nickel / aluminium bracing, a lace-up front & suede lining. Used to correct scoliosis & spinal disorders, the corset is comparitively small in size so possibly made for a child or teen user.
Early 20th century.
Wear commensurate with age & use, good untouched overall condition with associated light marks & scuffs. The laces are clearly later in date & the rear upper bracing has a small non original insert (see image of rear), very likely used to increase the girth as the user grew or gained weight.
