An early steel & iron cabinet.
An extremely handsome & very unusual example, the slim two door cabinet raised on stout legs with iron reinforcement to the doors & corners and topped with a Neoclassical pediment with cast iron floral embellishment. With chunky hinges & it's original key, the raw metalwork has the most wonderful depth of colour & the inside is divided to perfection with a run of large pigeon holes to one side & a hanging area with three coat hooks to the other.
An extraordinary thing & one of the niecest pieces of furniture I've had in a long time.

Wear commensurate with age, very good overall, structurally excellent, a little surface rust here & there toward the bottom as pictured. Lock & key in working order & lock does keep door closed but doesn't quite have the reach lock securely, this is absolutely fine for everyday use but will need attention if a secure cabinet is sought.
