H O V I S

A large advertising signs for 'Hovis' Bread.
A wonderful sign, the pressed gilded tin letters mounted on the original metal back-board supported by its original iron strap-work to the rear. 
These signs would have been wall mounted outside bakeries assigned with making the Hovis loaves using Hovis flour supplied by the company.
The Hovis brand was launched in Macclesfield, Cheshire in 1886 & quickly became the largest supplier of bread in Great Britain.
A wonderfully decorative item & a super piece of history which are becoming increasingly difficult to find!
Early 20th century.
Wear commensurate with age, in good, untouched original condition showing its age here & there but a great example overall with excellent colour.
