An early opticians's trade sign.
A wonderful 19th century, double sided, hand painted timber trade sign, delightfully original & untouched with the perfect patina. The gilding is entirely original, as is the surrounding paintwork with a pleasing subtle craquelure finish.
Finished with the sign writers name, 'Tom Billinton', to the lower edge & with two original hanging hooks to the top to hang. An exceptional & handsome example.

Wear commensurate with age, very good condition overall showing minor signs of it's past making it what is is today, non structural crack running across one side & a slight bow, just as it should be. Two hooks to the top which can be used to hang it or removed for a flush wall mount.
