A grocers 'Tubby Trex' advertising figure.
A fantastic & seldom found piece of advertising, the tubby chef with a wonderful facial expression, holding a plate of freshly baked goodies using Trex Lard. Made of Rubberoid which has aged beautifully over the years & the underside of the figure retaining it's original paper makers label for J Bibby & Sons of Liverpool.
A charming decorative piece, bursting with character!
1940's / 50's
Wear commensurate with age, good overall & totally untouched since he left the shop in which he was originally displayed. The underside of the base appears to have had a historic glued repair but this is not visible from the top. Displays beautifully.
