SOLD

A military bayonet training mannequin.
A scarce survivor, the timber frame covered in thick canvass with brass eyelets, thick braided cable hanging wires & several stab wounds to the torso. The mannequin was suspended by the top & bottom hanging wires & used by soldiers to practice close quarters bayonet combat. They'd run at it with their rifles drawn & practice driving the bayonet through it in preparation for war. Filled sacks, stuffed tyres & padded boards were often used so I'd imagine this more human kind must have brought the user a little closer to reality!
An interesting if somewhat macabre piece of history which doesn't turn up very often.
Mid 20th Century, very possibly WW2 era & English.
Wear commensurate with age, totally unrestored & displays well, a bit of loose stitching to the upper rear (this is to a secodary patch & not to the primary cover) but nice & solid overall.
UK courier service possible, please enquire for details.
