A large & early original Cupis Constitution Balls vetrinary advertising poster.
A charming & rare survivor in a wonderful colourway & utilizing some beautiful early printing fonts & imagery & printed by Francis Cupis of Diss, Norfolk & housed in a fitting (later but period) glazed birds eye Maple frame. The 'before & after treatment' engravings by Edward H Hacker (1813 to 1905) are a particularly pleasing touch.
A super interior decorators piece.
The poster was recently removed from Francis Cupiss Ltd in the small market town of Diss which doubled up as a vetrinary practice & print works until it's closure last year.
A member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons from January 1794 to December 1851, Francis Cupiss became a member of the London College on May I Ith, 1822. Later, he ran a small chemist shop within Diss but his real passion was for his own horse 'remedies' including constitution powder, tonic powder, diuretic powder and the famous Cupiss Constitution Balls.

Measurements include the frame.
Wear commensurate with age, completely untouched original condition, the small number of the posters recovered from the print works were all mercifully in unused condition with only very minor wear & tear from decades of careful storage.
