A scarce early vintage Speedangle surgical Anglepoise lamp.
An extremely rare version of this iconic lamp with a two-step cast iron base, original paintwork & steel arms with chrome detailing.
The Herbert Terry 1227 or 'two step' Anglepoise lamp was produced from the late 1930's with Terry's making various versions for industrial & home use, though all shared their patented adjustable spring.
This 'Speedangle De-Lux' lamp would have been made under licence & has some subtle differences to the mass produced model, most notably the chrome shade holder, stamped chrome fittings, unmarked lower 'fork' (usually stamped for Terry & Sons) & base finished with gilt transfers. Possibly manufactured using more hygienic materials than the standard model, this is the only example of this lamp I've ever seen & would make a fantastic addition to any collection.
Wired in twisted black flex with a chrome lamp holder (in keeping with the original).
Wear commensurate with age as pictured, cosmetically unrestored with some expected paint loss & scratches here & there, untouched & all original condition.
Height measurement of 65cm is taken in the classic position as per main image.
