A wonderful, early, scaled down example after the reknowned Henri Iselin, the subject one Dr Eugene Michel, beautifully cast with superb detail throughout & the most beautiful natural patina.
Sourced just outside Paris & one of my very favorite recent purchases.
Henri-Frédéric Iselin was a French sculptor boorn in Clairegoutte, Haute-Saône & was a pupil of François Rude. He started at The Salon in 1849 and became famous and successful, sculpting many portraits. He died in Paris in 1905
French, probably around 1890 / 1900
Wear commensurate with age, aside from one chip to the ear, structurally hes in perfect order & displays beautifully.
