A large early opaline glass light.
A beautiful & very rare survivor of great scale, the hand blown glass shade in its original woven copper netting & topped with a vented gallery. The opaline glass has a wonderful, subtle fade in its opacity from top to bottom & the gallery has a super untouched patina.
A beautiful piece of lighting, I don't come across many like this.
Late 19th century
Wear commensurate with age, totally untouched cosmetically, good overall & displays beautifully. Originally the lamp would have have been gas powered & the insert, lamp holder inside & hanging hook in the top are later additions (access to the inside is via the two screws to the outer edge of the gallery). It can also be hung using the folding arms on each side but personally I prefer them in the down position as pictured.
Not currently rewired but ready to install & can be rewired to spec at cost prior to dispatch if required.
All electrical items should be checked and / or installed by a qualified electrician prior to use.
