An early armchair reading lamp.
An exceptionally rare & early reading lamp with the strap leather base with lead weights in either side to fit the arm of a chair.
The articulated plated brass base is finished with some pleasing detail, supports it's original clam shell shade & retains it's original switched lamp holder. The only one of these I've seen in the flesh, amazing it still exists a real collectors item!
Wired in twisted black flex.
Early 20th Century, probably around 1910
Wear commensurate with age, fair condition overall, the leather base has seen a lot of use over the years & has been reinforced with a newer leather lining to the back. At over 100 years old, it's likely is was re-lined to repair old damage & although now in decent order, will need to be treated with care.
Width measurement refers to the leather strap flat out.
