An iron & leather coffee table in the manner of Jacques Adnet.
A beautiful, iconic piece of mid century design, the base with its simple yet elegant lines in thick wrought iron with rivited leather banding supporting its original thick glass top.
There has been some debate as to who was responsible for the design, some believe the design is by Jacques Adnet, others believe it should be attributed to Jean Pierre Ryckaert.
It is, either way, a timeless, stylish & very sculptural piece of mid century design, a real work of art that would work in most settings.
French, 1950's
Wear commensurate with age, good overall, the top has the standard issue scratching to the surface of the glass (hard to pick out on the camera, my personal preferrence has always been to never to change the glass on these as it makes up an important part of the design & any marks etc are part of its past), one tint mark to the edge and the underside of the leather strapping has one replacement bolt (visible only from underneath).
