A vintage industrial workbench by Emir.
A fantastic example, raised on chunky square legs with a thick iron-trimmed top, the base with a handy slatted lower shelf below two deep drawers with brass cup handles. Beautifully constructed & mixed hardwoods using mortice & tenon joints to the carcass, finger joints to the corners of the drawers (typical of Emir) & finished with large attractive iron bolts. A superb piece of Great British industrial design which would make a wonderful kitchen island.
c1950, provenance - College of Technology, Huddersfield (1896 - 1970)
Wear commensurate with age, unrestored showing numerous pleasing signs of its industrial past. Condition wise, among the best I've seen, clean by comparison though may require some further cleaning if it is to be used in a kitchen & has a few old vice holes in the top. As solid as the day it was made.
