An exceptional bank of 19th century shopkeeper's drawers.
A superb & highly original bank of English shopkeepers drawers with a wonderful, unusual drawer configuration, the like of which rarely turns up for sale anymore.
The carcass with panelled ends, raised on large cast iron castors with the twenty one drawers in the original painted finish and retaining their original iron handles. The thick top has three coin slots through which the shops takings were deposited & the whole piece has a truly phenomenal depth of colour & patina.
One of my favorite pieces of furniture I've ever bought, a work of art.
c1880
Wear commensurate with age, clearly had quite a life, solid & displays beautifully showing numerous signs of age contributing to what it is today. Three later replacement drawers (smallest drawers left hand side), numerous knocks, chips, bump and lumps, sporadic old woodworm long dead but treated as a precaution, some drawers stained inside. Nice original pine back boards.
UK courier service possible, please enquire for detail.
