A rare antique concave military distortion mirror.
A fantastic large concave mirror, originally used to reflect high power British military searchlight bulbs into the sky to search for enemy aircraft.
The thick mercury mirror plate comes with its original copper surround & is backed in its original copper mesh with both the banding & centre of the mirror marked for 'Parson's & Co Ltd, 1916'.
From a distance, these curious mirrors reflect a large area depicting the view upside down &, when closer to the surface, distort the view in a similar manner to an old 'hall of mirrors' fairground mirror.
Early 20th Century
Wear commensurate with age, good untouched original condition with some expected light scratching to the mirror plate which does not detract. The mirror is currently free standing & will require a bracket or similar if it is to be wall mounted.
Collection in person preferred though a UK courier service is always possible, please enquire for details.
