A toleware shops tea canister.
A wonderful & highly unusual example, the front panel decorated with hand painted, shadowed letter 'E' to the centre & a beautifully decorative gilt border. A super shape with strong colours & an incredible patina to the paintwork, retaining its original lid.
My favourite tea canister I've owned.
Late 19th Century.
Wear commensurate with age as pictured, very good untouched condition, one small chip to the paint on the letter E, otherwise exceptional.
