A fantastic & scarce surviving example of an antique tobacconists advertising sign for Mitchells Prize Crop Cigarettes. A superb early gilt glass advertising sign, reverse painted in the traditional manner & set in its original wooden frame. Boasting some wonderful depth & detail to the gilt gold & silver lettering and border, the sign has a wonderful bygone feel & fantastic overall look about it.
Steven Mitchell & Son were first established as a tobacco manufacturer in Scotland in 1723. In 1901, they merged with W D & H O Wills & became part of the Imperial Tobacco Company.

Wear commensurate with age, unrestored, great condition overall. No cracks or damage, expected (very) minor loss to the reverse painting in places & back panel a later replacement in ply.
