A wonderful antique POW Camp painted timber sign.
A fascinating & exceptionally rare survivor, the painted finish all original & in some great vivid colours with the camp numberr appearing to have been changed from number 87 to 24 at some point during its past. Purchased as a World War One period piece though could also potentailly date to the Second World War. An excellent piece of wartime history.
Early to mid 20th century.
Wear commensurate with age, as found, unrestored condition. The sign has split between the layers of board in the past & previously been glued in places, this can only be noticed on close inspection & it remains solid & ready to display. Comes mounted on a section of the mounting original post & displays beautifully.
