Pair of Etched Glass Shop Signs c1900

A pair of early etched glass shop signs.
A wonderful pair of early advertising signs or 'tablets' as they were then known, the first for, 'Chops & Steak', the second for, 'Blanc Mange & Fruit' at the bargain price of just 2d. Unusually in milk glass with etched lettering in the original painted finish with both retaining their original reeded timber & gesso frames.
An exceptionally original & decorative pair which I'd imagine are a complete one-off.
The signs manufacturer "London Sand Blast Decorative Glass Works" was a prominent London glass manufacturer, the Gray's Inn Road area in Holborn was home to historic glass artisans and factories where early sandblasting and decorative techniques were practiced. From 1895 to 1902, they specialised in their their custom reverse-painted glass, trade mirrors, and advertising 'tablets' & by 1904–1905, the company consolidated its massive industrial operations, shifting its primary commercial trade marking away from Holborn to focus entirely on their expanded factory at Burdett Road, East London.
