SOLD

A rare surviving example of a wicker military field treatment trunk.
An interesting & attractive piece, the canvas covered, woven wicker hamper with iron banding, rope-work handles & heavy brown leather binding. The front & end panels in the original painted finish with the inside of the trunk is marked with the military issue broad arrow and the rear with its original iron mounting rings.
Manufactured between the two wars, these trunks or panniers were carried in the field & versions included this, a dental kit, a gas treatment outfit & also a surgical version. They were repurposed after use & the front panel would be painted over & then labelled once used again.
This example comes in completely untouched & fresh to the market condition.
Early 20th century.
Wear commensurate with age, good solid condition, completely untouched original condition, one old repair to an end strap (see last image, both straps present but at least one unusable due to the repair, purely cosmetic as the trunk stays closed with the front latches.)
UK courier service available at £15 tracked & signed for 24 hour delivery.
