GEC War Department Industrial Fan

A beautiful early vintage GEC War Department industrial electric fan.
A rare survivor in the original black Japanned finish with gilt detailing, this electric industrial fan by the General Electric Company is superb example of Great British industrial design. Employing a metal guard, coppered blades, a cast iron base & multi speed motor, unusually stamped 'WD' & marked with the military issue broad arrow so originally made exclusively for military rather than commercial use. A super decorative & functional item & a great bit of history!

Wear commensurate with age, good overall, unrestored.
The fan is offered in good working order but retains it's original wiring in places & is untested for electrical safety but as always we recommend an electrical safety check by a qualified electrician prior to use. Works on two speeds.
I would also strongly advise the fan is kept away from children given the speed of the blades & open nature of the the guard!
