A stunning pair of large antique concave military distortion mirrors.
A fantastic & rare pair of mirrors, originally used to reflect high power British military searchlight bulbs into the sky to search for enemy aircraft. From a distance, the mirrors reflect a large area depicting the view upside down & when closer to the surface, distort the view in a similar manner to an old 'hall of mirrors' fairground mirror.
Both come with their original copper surrounds & are backed in wire mesh with original stencilled lettering to the rear & one is acid etched to the centre & outer edge.
Price is per mirror with two available.
Early to mid 20th century.
Wear commensurate with age, good untouched original condition with some expected abrasions to the mirror plates which do not detract. The mirrors are currently free standing & will require a bracket or similar if they are to be wall mounted.
Collection in person preferred though a UK courier service is available, please enquire for details.
