A beautiful antique Cambridge University presentation oar blade trophy.
A wonderfully detailed & very decorative presentation oar adorned with gilt calligraphy & college insignia with the most fantastic craquelure finish.
A fantastic piece of history & not something which turns up very often!
Any rowing crew which recorded four consecutive 'bumps' were said to have earned their oars & were awarded a presentation oar such as this.
The inscription reads:
