An exceptionally rare antique advertising display for British Ropes Ltd.
A wonderful glazed oak trade sample cabinet containing twenty three mounted samples of the companies products from spun yarn to reinforced steel cable. Finished with the company branding to the centre, the quality of both the case & contents is evident throughout with the rope samples neatly finished with string whippings & the cables with branded brass ends.
British Ropes Ltd was established in the 1920's through a merger of eight companies & headquartered in Cavendish Square, London. They produced a large quantity of the rope used in Great Britain & beyond throughout the 20th century & also specialised in cable used in bridges, cranes, elevators & mine shafts.
Fresh onto the market & truly remarkable, museum-quality survivor.
Wear commensurate with age, excellent overall showing a few minor signs of age, the back penel has some surface damage near the base but is limited to the rear outer layer & remains solid.
