An early enamel 'No Spitting' enamel sign.
A wonderful & very rare sign in thick two-tone blue and white enamel with some beautiful decorative detail & early typography.
Formerly used within the carriages on the Belfast & County Down Railway & harking back to the days when Tuberculosis or Consumption as it was known then, was a serious health concern with spitting viewed as a major factor in preventing the spread.
