A mercury glass witches' ball.
A hand blown glass witches' ball, topped with its original gallery & with some beautiful natural foxing to the mercury lining.
Historically said to have been hung in a window to ward off witches, a beautiful decorative item, just a pefect example.
Late 19th Century
Excellent condition overall with some pleasing foxing, just as it should be. Chain used for display, not included, these look their best hung from ribbon in my opinion.
