Large Anthropomorphic Taxidermy Croc Butler

A remarkable Victorian taxidermy crocodile 'butler'.
A well executed, unusual & typically Victorian piece of anthropomorphic taxidermy of great scale, the large freshwater crocodile standing on an ebonised pine base with the most mischeivuos look in his eyes and holding his original tray on a brass stem. Recovered from a large country house on the outskirts of London, period pieces of this nature are now extremely hard to find.
Late 19th century.
Wear commensurate with age, displays brilliantly but this guy has had a life & has an old (stable) repair to one arm, losses to the toes on both feet & the tip of his tail (he was said to have sat safely in the hallway for decades until a generation of children dragged their bikes in & out & damaged his extremities!) Measurements are overall & include the base.
