A rare antique taxidermy Black Buck by Van Ingen and Van Ingen of Mysore, India.
An exceptional mount by what has to be the most talented Indian taxidermy outfit of the period. The exceptionally well-mounted blackbuck head with impressive spiralled horns mounted on a solid hardwood shield, a trademark Van Ingen shape & finished with a stamped makers mark to the rear.
A rare survivor from the colonial era & a particularly handsome mount, one of my all time favourits.

Van Ingen & Van Ingen was founded in the 1890s by Eugene Van Ingen, a Dutch-origin taxidermist. The firm was based in Mysore, South India, and was known for its high-quality taxidermy, particularly tigers and leopards native to the area. The firm were market leaders in preparing trophies for foreign hunters and the Maharaja, and continued its work throughout the 20th century by Eugene's sons before closing in 1995.
Wear commensurate with age, very good overall, untouched original condition with the perfect amount of natural wear, a little well executed later work arouns the base of the ears.
UK courier service available at £20 tracked & signed (the horns are easily removed so these will be sent separately).
